Remember Lina and Brian? The ones whose engagement shoot made me feel like an out of shape turd photographing an ethereal angel? Yeah, their wedding– with just his family from Texas, some of hers all the way from China, and their closest besties– landed right in the middle of last summer, when wildfires turned Seattle into a big hazy smokebomb. WORD. UP. Terrible time for our natural habitats and air quality, buttttt pretty okay when it comes to having crazy cool light for your wedding (check out the first shot, this is exactly how it looked standing on the shores of Lake Washington. Can’t see nothing but your boo).
Between the traditional Chinese tea ceremony incorporated into the reception and the quiet first dance while their fam sipped cocktails, Lina and Brian did an impeccable job of combining cultures and traditions while keeping the whole thang totally theirs. We got to work with some of the kings and queens of the PNW on this one– Gaylin on makeup, Bahtoh on florals, Canlis on the bomb reception space– so bring on the smoky days if they mean more smokeshows like these. Ok, I’ll stop. Just go love on these two as much as we do.
