When we were 24, Kirsten and I came home from dates at the same time and wished on leftover 4th of July sparklers that we would marry the boys we had just gone out with. And I laughed about that moment so many times during her wedding, just giddy that the universe had better men waiting for us than we ever saw coming in our tender youth.
Long after our sparkler boys had come and gone, Kirsten got a job at Zum Fitness downtown. Fell head over heels for a trainer. For like, a loooong time we heard about this guy Joe. They were work friends, but Kirsten was in LOVE. I told her to forget about him, he wasn’t into it, move along… but she KNEW he was it for her. And Kirsten’s intuition is nothing to mess with. They’ve both grown into even better versions of themselves since the moment they began together, and being able to witness that firsthand has been a delight of my life (brb weeping in the corner about my friends being happy).
Kirsten and Joe and their gorgeous, intimate wedding on Guemes Island (an underrated treasure of the San Juans).
Look at the gentleness in his eyes. I adore him.
One of my favorite father/daughter pre-ceremony shots everrrrr.
