Hello Detroit, city of my photographic dreams. Hello Ford Piquette Plant. Hello incredible microcosm of American history (I seriously could not read enough books about Henry Ford after this weekend). Hello Travis, the sweetest souled man who cried at every corner and hello Heidi, our beloved laid back bride who we’ve adored since the first moment we met (which was at Chateau St Michelle on the day of their engagement, when I posed as a winery staff member named Lisa to take their photos and to this day do not know why I made up a fake name for that but here we are).
Detroit is a HELL OF A TOWN and these two know it like the backs of their hands– tour guides and hosts extraordinaire, Travis and Heidi sing the Detroit gospel (when we went down for their engagement photos last December, they introduced us to the concept they invented called DAD– aka Detroit Adventure Days. I swear I don’t know who can keep up with these two but I sure like trying) and it was only right they get married at the Piquette Plant, an early-days Ford plant that still holds all the character you’d hope for. A lot of photogs cross their fingers for Italy elopements or Mexico weddings, but an architectural dream of a town like Detroit is honestly the kind of thing we jump for joy about. But most importantly, a couple who gives a shit about each other above all and just wants to play with everyone who loves them– hot damn is it incredible to be swung into the mix on weekends like this.
